Brian Schroeder, Associate - Asia Pacific Solutions
Brian Schroeder is an LCW associate and Senior Consultant, designing and delivering LCW solutions across Asia Pacific. Brian works from Hong Kong and Bangalore, and heads LCW's Inclusive Leadership faculty for clients in the region delivering solutions such as Building a Culture of Inclusion. He has previously lived and worked in China, Korea, Morocco, and the USA. Brian was raised in China and the USA.
From 2004 to 2011, Brian built and headed Microsoft’s culture and communication group from Bangalore, supporting Asia and Europe in developing talent to serve Microsoft customers and partners in the high-level technical support space. There he led a core group in Bangalore, as well as helped set up a group in Shanghai and Bucharest to enable the business to achieve its goal of globalizing the service delivery model across North America, EMEA, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
As a Senior Consultant for LCW, Brian's specialty is advising organizations operating in Asia Pacific countries on their human capital strategies, with a focus on enabling people to work across cultures and develop collaboration skills for a global business environment. He is also on NASSCOM’s steering committee for diversity and inclusion; NASSCOM is one of India’s most prestigious professional associations for technical fields in Asia. Brian regularly speaks and facilitates engagements centered on globalization, diversity and inclusion education, business communication, collaboration, and intercultural effectiveness.
Brian’s been engaged with intercultural competence since the beginning of his career. In Korea, his MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) research focused on integrating intercultural competence development with language skills development. This involved training on the faculty at Samsung’s center preparing leaders and managers for overseas assignments, and researching curriculum and syllabus design.
Most of Brian’s work experience has been in the corporate sector helping companies solve communication-related performance and learning issues. He has served companies in financial services, FMCG, manufacturing, IT, and hotels& tourism. In addition to Microsoft, some of themultinationals he has worked with include BMW, HSBC, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Nokia, Samsung and Wal-Mart. Brian’s roles have included serving people’s learning needs in various roles, including coaching senior executives, and he has been involved in adult learning and development throughout his career. In the academic sector he has worked in language assessment and teacher education. His work managing projects in teacher education focused on reflective professional development and experiential learning.
Brian is highly skilled with tools ranging from the Intercultural Development Inventory® to the Cultural Detective® suite of development products. In addition to being a certified workplace coach, he also holds an MAT in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) from the School for International Training, and an UCLES Certificate in English Language Teaching for Adults (CELTA). He holds a BA in English from the University of Minnesota in the USA.
